Rebuild” is the second blistering single off his upcoming album, Will the Guns Come Out, and is a ripping anthem about the destruction and resurrection of a city that channels the anger of young Jonathan Richman—yeah, you remember how much he hated Hippie Johnny—and the attitude of the Black Keys. Backed only by drums, he wields a guitar like a weapon, brutally tearing the song down to its core. B-side ”Loved One” is stripped down even further, with just Hanni and a fuzzy electric guitar. Reminiscent of De Stijl-era White Stripes, it’s a sexy, whiskey-drenched ode to a woman who’s got that “vampire look tonight.” This is dance music for those too wasted to stand, or “anyone who’s ever been shot or hit by a train.”
